AI Visibility tracks how the four leading AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini) describe and recommend your podcast. PodSEO sends category prompts on a weekly cadence, parses citations, and surfaces the prompts you should be appearing in but aren't.

The four engines that move audience

One score per engine, one composite for everything.

We don't average AI assistants into a single black-box score. Each engine has its own behavior, its own audience, and its own surface.

Capability 01

See exactly where you get cited. And where you don't.

Every prompt response is captured, parsed, and stored with the model name, timestamp, and the full text. When you move into a top-cite position, we mark the metadata change that likely caused it.

  • Per-prompt history: see your rank in "best true crime podcasts" over time.
  • Citations preserved: the exact response text and date, model-by-model.
  • Competitor mentions: who appears alongside you, who's ahead.

Knowledge Check: does the model know the facts?

Visibility isn't enough if the assistant misremembers the host's name or your episode cadence. Knowledge Check probes each model with structured queries about your show and flags anything wrong, missing, or out of date.

  • Identity probes: host, format, cadence, genre, network.
  • Episode probes: latest episode, breakthrough episode.
  • Stale-fact alerts: sites the model cites that are out of date.

Capability 03

Gap insights: the prompts you should win.

Some prompts you're winning. Some you're invisible in. Gap Insights ranks prompts by "you should be here", based on category fit, audience overlap with current rankers, and your existing knowledge graph.

  • Fix actions: "add a forensic-cases page to your site" with one click to the relevant feature.
  • Sourcing routes: which articles models are citing, and how to get listed there.
  • Re-check on demand: after you make a fix, re-run the prompt to confirm.

Frequently asked

How often does PodSEO probe each engine?

Each tracked prompt fires across all four engines on a weekly cadence by default. Each prompt is fired with the same context envelope, so results are comparable over time. We log model name, version, and timestamp on every response.

Can I add custom prompts?

PodSEO seeds category prompts from your show's metadata and topic associations. User-editable custom prompts are on the roadmap. Today, prompts are derived automatically from your show profile and topic graph.

What's GEO and how is it different from SEO?

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the practice of making your content findable and citable by AI assistants, not just search engines. SEO targets the SERP. GEO targets the model's answer. Both matter. PodSEO covers both.

What happens when a model's training cutoff is old?

We flag stale citations explicitly. If the model is citing an article from before your last rebrand, you'll see it in Knowledge Check. Live-retrieval engines (Perplexity, ChatGPT with browsing) refresh faster. Trained-knowledge engines (Claude, Gemini base) need upstream citations to update.

Is "AI visibility" a real growth lever?

Increasingly yes. Listener discovery is shifting from "open Apple Podcasts and search" to "ask Claude for a recommendation." Early data from podcasters running attribution surveys shows a meaningful and growing share of first-time listeners citing an AI assistant as their referral source. We expect this to keep accelerating as assistants become primary discovery surfaces.
